The diving in Sharm-el-Sheikh is some of the best in the world. Everyone who comes here is captivated by the coral and sealife on view. You can find the corals less than a metre from the surface going all the way down to the sea bed.
People often prefer luxury Egypt holidays for many other reasons that just diving, for example, a Nile cruise is a popular choice.
There are fish all over the reef that can be seen from the surface as well as from a dive. To compliment your diving or snorkeling holiday, choose Sharm el Sheikh holidays that are of a high standard and reasonably priced.
The diving is from the Straits of Tiran in the North to Ras Mohamed in the South. Excursions are available to the Gulf of Suez to dive the wrecks of Thistlegorm and Dunraven in the Abu Nuas region.
Here is a list of guidelines to follow when diving in Egypt:
- Perform a pre-check on your equipment and that of your companion
- Limit your depth to your level of training or experience. Generally there is a 30m limit
- Make sure that you avoid touching the reef to prevent damage, and also to avoid personal injury
- At 5m complete a 3 minute safety stop. Ensure that you complete this close to the reef or the mooring line.
- Do a buoyancy check while on the safety stop. If at the end of the dive at 5m you have air in the BC, try taking a kilo of lead off the belt.
- When you come up from the dive, make sure that it is close to the reef or the mooring line. Do not ascend in the blue or open water as there are a lot of boats in the area.
- Dont swim back to the boat underwater, be clearly seen on the surface. If you are underwater the skippers cannot see you, and you may risk a bad injury if you connect with a propeller.
- When you are back onboard, login with the Dive Master using the standard log-sheet.
