Perth

Picture a lovely sandy white beach only fifteen minutes drive away from both Fremantle and Perth. You’ve found Perth’s Cottesloe Beach.

Cottesloe Beach

A beach fringed with tall Norfolk pines, grassy picnic areas and shelter from the sea breezes. An amazing beach for swimming, hanging out and snorkeling too. Just nearby there are also cafes, shops and pubs to keep your belly satisfied as well.

This is amazing Cottesloe Beach, a very popular beach in Perth Western Australia. It’s a great place to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean while kicking back with a cold beer or glass of wine. There is also a nice view of Rottnest Island about 20 kms offshore.

The water is cool and crystal clear, perfect for a refreshing swim. There’s also a reef to one side that is very popular for snorkeling due to the large variety of fish to be seen. If you are lucky, you might even glimpse a little weedy seadragon. Or if you’re really lucky, a leafy seadragon. The reef has been classified as a Fish Habitat Protection Area.

Safety as always is regularly monitored by the Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club from their iconic position right under the Indiana Teahouse. Early on Sunday mornings is the best time to watch lifesavers going through their drills with club members.

The beach is accessible all year but surfing with hard boards is restricted to the winter months. Thats alright though as in summer there is no surf to speak of anyway. Better to drive down south to the Yallingup and Margaret River for that.

It’s also possible to get to Cottesloe Beach on Transperth buses from Fremantle and Perth. You can also take the train but be aware that it’s about a 20 minute walk from the train station.

If you are looking for a fully self-contained apartment right next to the beach, please click Perth hotel or go to http://accommodationperthwa.org
