Jordan is a Middle Eastern country that is full of history. Deeply rooted in this history and religion, much of it still lives today, making it an excellent vacation destination for those looking to go beyond the stereotypical vacation. Jordan features some of the most interesting sites in the world: the lost city of Petra, huge Crusader castles, the brook where Jesus was baptized, the mountain peak from where Moses saw the Promised Land, the fortress where John the Baptist was beheaded, to name a few. If you are thinking of traveling to Jordan to see these sites, you will need to apply for a passport. Start by going online and filling out pass port application forms.

Online passport processing sites make handling all of your passport needs a breeze. From these sites, you can access all sorts of passport services, from adding more pages to your passport to getting an emergency passport renewal. These sites were made to help citizens of the US get their passports quickly and safely, and they can help you do just that.

Petra is easily the most famous archaeological site in the country, and one of the most famous in the world. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the slope of Mount Hor, this city was constructed in the 6th century BC by the Nabataeans. Its monumental buildings are carved straight from the sides of the mountain. It are known as the Rose-Red City because of the color of the stone from which Petra was carved. The inhabitants of this city used an aqueduct system to create an artificial oasis. In order to reach the city of Petra, visitors walk through a narrow, dark gorge called the Siq. The main buildings of Petra are all worth exploring, and these include the Treasury, the Theatre, from where you can see the entire city, the Amphitheatre, the Monastery, the Tombs, the Hadrien Gate, and the Cardo Maximum.

Qasr Amra is another famous World Heritge Site. Qasr Amra is actually a desert castle, and it’s significant in that it is considered among the best representations of Islamic architecture and artistic style in the world. Only the basic foundations of this castle have withstood history as well as the desert, but it is still a magnificent thing to see. Just imagining what it would be like in it’s full state is hard to do.

Umm ar-Rasas, yet another archaeological site and World Heritage Site in Jordan, features influences and ruins from three different civilizations: Muslim, Byzantine, and Roman. It’s this mix of cultures that helped it become a World Heritage Site, and seeing it for yourself helps to show the differences in periods of Jordan’s history. Regarded as the most important discovery in these ruins, the mosaic on the floor of the Church of St. Stephen, created in 785, is regarded as the largest mosaic in the Jordan. Surprisingly well-preserved, this mosaic depicts various different cities in Jordan.

There is a whole lot to discover in the country of Jordan, and it’s tough to go anywhere in this country and not see something reflecting on Jordan’s history. Just don’t forget a passport if you are thinking of traveling to Jordan, or any country for that matter. Start by going online and completing passport application forms. Also remember that these sites offer emergency new passport renewal service if you are in a tight spot.
