Is A Gap Year A Good Idea For Me?

It is not uncommon amongst parents to believe that once their child has left full time education they will never return. Many do in fact return after their year away from education to go on and study at university. Believe it or not but research shows that people learn more on a gap year abroad then they would do with 4 years in education. You ask yourself the question if a gap year is really worthwhile? YES most definitely. Why not spend your year volunteering abroad participating in some great, worthwhile volunteer projects.

The main group of people who make up gap year are school leavers and also university leaver taking a break from education. This is a year away from home usually somewhere exotic where a person will live and work with a local community helping on a designated project. Why not volunteer in Tanzania today and find out for yourself what it’s like to be a volunteer.

People have been strapping on their backpacks and heading all over the world travelling for years now, this is nothing new. Volunteering is different; they will not be roaming around all over the world but will be living in a designated place and working on a specific project most likely with other volunteers. They are however given time where they are able to travel around their host country to experience different sights and sounds. You are able to travel almost anywhere in the world so why not participate in a project volunteering in Nairobi

Most volunteer placements on gap years provides the student with a project to work on, accommodation, food and supervision to ensure the student knows what they are doing and also are there to help them if they have any questions.

Taking a gap year is maybe not a luxurious as it seems, but that is not the point of it. It helps people gain life experiences as well as meeting new likeminded friends and helping individual projects succeed with their goals.
