Haywards Heath – West Sussex is a delightful place to visit. It is set in the heart of the lovely peaceful English countryside amongst verdant rolling hills. The whole heart of Sussex area, consists of 128 square miles designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The South Downs National Park, towards the North Weald is less than an hours journey from London, England’s capital city. This whole area of West Sussex boasts a plethora of ancient homes, barn conversions, vineyards and serene villages. It truly is a slice of old England in the 21st century.

The actual town of Hayward’s Heath has many fine Victorian and Edwardian stately homes. These splendid residences, stand proudly amidst well groomed lawns and flower gardens surrounded by a lovely conservation area called Muster Green. This warm and friendly town with its intriguing mediaeval ambience has a grand variety of excellent wine bars, bistros, and superb restaurants, which serve food and drink to refresh the most jaded palates. They will not stretch your budget, either. Most of these establishments are in an area of the town, called the Broadway. This is a pedestrianised part of town.

There are plenty of places where visitors can relax and have fun in the town. For example, Beech Hurst Gardens and Victoria Park are ideal for picnicking, enjoying open air musical concerts or just playing the local popular sport of pitch and putt. If you want something more active, there are many walking and cycling trails that will take you around and out of town to the many villages scattered about the surrounding countryside.

A town worth mentioning is East Grinstead. This is a market town that dates back to the year circa 1221.It has several fine Georgian and Regency buildings and a number of the 14th century timber buildings. This makes East Grinstead, a special place in the hearts of history lovers.

West Sussex is worth a visit at any time of the year. In the springtime, the whole region is ablaze with bluebells, masses of them! These can be viewed on foot or on the local steam railway called, naturally, the Bluebell steam railway. If you are an animal lover why not pay a visit and see the spring lambs at Washbrooks Farm. Also, see the wonderful colourful gardens at the Great Gardens of Sussex attraction.

There is lots to see and do in the summer time when you visit Haywards Heath; the South of England show, the English wine week, and the famous maze down at Tullys farm. In the autumn period, you can take brisk walks across the Downs and enjoy kicking through the crisp green, orange and yellow fall leaves as you head towards High Beeches and Wakehurst. The Wintertime? Well, a popular pastime for visitors in winter is to settle down in a comfortable chair in old English Pub drinking a pint or so of Sussex ale in front of a blazing fire. Add to that, a hot roast lunch, and what better way could you find to spend a winter break in Haywards Heath – West Sussex than that?
